नहि जीवितदानाद्धि दानमन्यद्विशिश्यते।
तस्मादुपचारेत स्वेन स्वेन निस्वतपस्विन। अष्टांग संग्रह
अर्थात जीवन दान से बढ़कर कोई दान नहीं होता।
निर्धनों और साधु संतो, तपस्वियों की चिकित्सा स्वयं के धन से करनी चाहिए।

That is, there is no charity greater than the gift of life.
The poor and sages and ascetics should be treated with the money of the doctor himself.

 

क्वचिद्धर्म: क्वचिन मैत्री क्वचिदर्थ: क्वचिद्यश:।

कर्मभ्यास: क्वचिच्चेति चिकित्सा नास्ति निष्फला।।

कभी धर्म, कभी मित्रता, कभी धन और कभी कीर्ति और कभी अनुभव यह सभी लाभ चिकित्सा के मिलते हैं अर्थात चिकित्सा कभी भी निष्फल नहीं जाती इसलिए एक चिकित्सक को बिना धन की लालसा के चिकित्सा करते रहना चाहिए।

Sometimes religion, sometimes friendship, sometimes wealth and sometimes fame and sometimes experience, all these benefits are available in treatment, that is, treatment never goes in vain, so a doctor should continue to treat without craving for money.
